HAPOEL TEL AVIV WELCOMES DEVAUGHN AKOON-PURCELL

Guard/forward  has reached an agreement with Hapoel Tel Aviv of the Israeli Winner League, the team announced today. Akoon Purcell earned a two way contract last summer with the Denver Nuggets, where he played 7 games and he was waived on December 16th. The last season Akoon-Purcell played with the Danish Team Bakken (Ligaen). The team played in three different competitions that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 29 Ligaen games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.5ppg, 4.9rpg, 3.8apg and 1.6spg. Akoon-Purcell helped them to win the Danish League title and the cup. Purcell was awarded Eurobasket.com All-Danish Ligaen Guard of the Year, selected to 1st Team and selected to All-Imports Team. Akoon-Purcell also played 18 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he got remarkable 18.6ppg, 5.2rpg, 4.3apg and 1.6spg. He contributed to his team making it to the FIBA Europe Cup Semifinals. It was a very successful season in his career as he was awarded Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup Player of the Year, Guard of the Year and Import of the Year.
